For a quarter of a century, Jan St. Werner and Andi Toma have forged a unique musical language with their expandable duo project Mouse On Mars. The group is one of Germany’s few experimental pop acts to have stirred wide international attention and acclaim, mapping their own idiosyncratic trajectory through a no man’s land between pop, art, club music, and the avant-garde.
Based on an anarchic mixture of electronic sound that oscillates between uncontrollable chaos and meticulously arranged structures, a typical Mouse On Mars concert is a disorienting mix of techno, pop and twisted club beats, covering the spectrum from playful noise to strange beauty. Brimming with fragmented melodies, spacey dissonances, edgy breaks, streams of sonic particles, and chaotic overlays, Mouse On Mars’ fluid aesthetic is deeply rooted in their restless ingenuity, quirky sense of humour, and fearless non-conformism. Following this year’s release of their 12th studio album, Dimensional People (Thrill Jockey), Mouse On Mars bring their exuberant live show to Oslo’s hippest new music venue, Røverstaden.
The night also features Oslo based producer Carmen Villain in a new live music performance project with London based artist Parris. Villain’s atmospheric and melodic tapestries meets Parris's dub and bass infused rhythms. The perfect prelude to MoM’s dense wash of sound.
