Norges musikkhøgskole/Room U1010
17/9, 16.00
Free Entry
Composers: Du Yun, Ole-Henrik Moe and Mike McCormick,
Singers: Unni Løvlid and Svetlana Spajić
Three composers and two singers come together for a two-day workshop to explore musical material while expanding dynamic and fluid relationships between composer and performer. The workshop will deal with new constellations and ways of thinking while remaking ground in concepts of geographic and artistic migration, the transformative power of music, and the metamorphosis of song.
The vocalists and composers all have diverse backgrounds involving Serbian,Chinese and Norwegian folk, surround sound and electronics, microtonality and pop music. Much of the workshop will be about finding a common language among global and technological diversity.
A public presentation will round off the workshop, where you are invited into the lab to listen to the results and ask questions.
Produced in collaboration with Norges musikkhøgskole and the Goethe-Institut. The event is part of the project Metamorphic Songs initiated by the Goethe-Institut.
Ultima Context is supported by Norsk Komponistforening, Fritt Ord and Bergesenstiftelsen.
