How do creatures from other planets move? What kind of natural laws do they operate with? How do they express emotions compared to humans? Can there be hidden codes and messages to us humans embedded in the choreography? Every element of We Come in Peace finds the performers trying to represent a new reality from the perspective of visiting lifeforms. Dancers’ bodies in geometrical formations act as UFOs that appear and dissolve in space.
Helgebostad, Johannesdottir, Lauvdal, Floen and Theisen present an exuberant and boundary-breaking performance – or ‘dance-ical’, as they call it – in which they enact an alien takeover. Accompanied by cosmic sounds from three of Norway’s most inventive young experimental musicians from bands like Broen, Skadedyr, Finity and Skrap, the duo try to imagine how the communication, emotions and social codes we take for granted might appear in the minds of beings from a distant planet.
