Anna Meredith: Songs For the M8
Egidija Medeksaite: Akasha

Ensemble Allegria’s live series (Now) began in 2017 and finds this acclaimed group playing a variety of new and core repertoire in significant locations with distinguished guests. Here they team up with improvising pianist and composer Christian Wallumrød in the airy surroundings of the Gyldendal building in central Oslo, where the shell of an old building has been augmented by cutting edge construction designed by Sverre Fehn.

Wallumrød, who has worked with many figures in the pop and jazz worlds, and has released his own material on ECM and Hubro, has put together a programme with Allegria’s artistic director Maria Angelika Carlsen. These will include contemporary works as well as Wallumrød’s own compositions and transcriptions of baroque music by Purcell and Rameau. A mix of past and present that perfectly complements the architectural setting.

Produced by Ensemble Allegria.
