This year’s Ultima festival coincides with the controversial court case centred around the 2018 theatre production Ways of Seeing, at Oslo’s Black Box teater, and the issues it raised around free speech, artistic expression and the rise of political extremism.
Over two days, Ultima invites the collective behind Ways of Seeing, together with a diverse and exciting line-up of artists across different fields, to take over Blitz – Oslo’s legendary activist headquarters and venue – for a series of actions, performances and spoken word.
The audience will eavesdrop on open recording sessions that will lead to an album being released in the fall 2021.
Observation Room boldly celebrates experimental and political artistic practice at a time when independent art is coming under increased pressure.
Each recording session will last between 30 and 45 mins.
