With a significant career as one of Norway's most profiled violinists and conductors, Lars-Erik ter Jung launches his new ensemble this evening, and the commissions for this special occasion reflect his quest to unite folk song and string instruments, simplicity and clarity.
These three premiere works by three of Norway’s leading composers draw their concentrated inspiration from the folk and religious music of Norway.
The common thread is the presence of the kvedar or solo folk voice (Ingebjørg Lognvik Reinholdt), which casts a distinctly different tone from the classically trained operatic vocal.
Agnes Pettersen’s Å være i livet adds the ancient sound of the cembalo to the mix for an evening of contemplative music.
