Ingar Zach: Parts of the Horse Are Notably Present (2020, WP)

Germany’s Ensemble Musikfabrik have brought their replicas of Harry Partch’s instruments around the world. Norwegian improvising percussionist Ingar Zach will be let loose on Musikfabrik's collection of instruments, such as the Kithara, Cloud chamber bowls, Harmonic canon and Eroica zither.

In Parts of the Horse Are Notably Present, Zach will combine his own journey around Partch’s extraordinary sound world with his own percussion objects and techniques (including handheld electric fans brushing the surfaces). ‘There is something about the music that has come out of this that makes me think of prairies and open landscapes,’ he says.

Ingar Zach – cloud chamber bowl, Eroica marimba, percussion
Carl Rosman – clarinets, kithara
Christine Chapman – horn / kithara
Rie Watanabe or Dirk Rothbrust, Eroica marimba, Cloud chamber bowls, timpani + percussion (maybe Dirk will be able to make it after all, due to Corona-based schedule changes).
Sara Cubarsi – violin, viola, harmonic canon, surrogate kithara
Axel Porath – viola, various Partch instruments
Dirk Wietheger – violin, cello, kithara
Florentin Ginot – double bass, kithara
Paul Jeukendrup – sound projection
