Workshop

Composition workshop - Songs for an Open Space

Ultima and Oslo Cathedral Choir invite composition students to participate in a workshop with the German composer Brigitta Muntendorf. The workshop will take place at Oslo Cathedral on 14 and 15 September, as part of the Ultima festival.

The subject matter and artistic profile of the workshop centres around the song form. The participants will each compose a new song for the ensemble from Oslo Cathedral Choir (8 singers, SSAATTBB). The songs should be between 3 and 5 minutes in length. There are many song traditions: folk songs, love songs, protest songs, religious songs, political songs. The participants can choose the text that they set to music. Brigitta Muntendorf is very interested in exploring how the song form can be developed and revised in modern contexts.

Dates and deadlines:

26 July: Deadline for applications. Complete this application form if you wish to apply to participate. Applicants must submit a sketch for (or excerpt from) a piece that they would like to develop for the workshop.
